I think how society operates on various worlds needs to be taken into account before I answer, to be honest. In my world, I don't think it is necessary. We will get the criminal, one way or another.

But at the same time, the severity of the crimes in my world would be tame, in comparison.

They were created because they had to fill a purpose, didn't they?

True. But in the meantime...

They are killing themselves, slowly. Even if you do not take the risks of their line of work into account, when their powers finally run out.... they will be destroyed by the ability they once controlled.
